Aspirin is Bad For You – Again!

@DrMommy, aspirin as a blood thinner, aspirin is bad, aspirin is bad again, avoiding blood clots, baby aspirin, Dr. Mommy Online, drug side effects, health tips, healthy tips, internal bleeding, no more long term aspirin use, take control of your life

You’ve probably heard it on the news lately that an aspirin a day is now considered dangerous. This breaking news was one that made me shake my head again! Yes, again!

For years the medical profession has flipped-flopped on their claims of medications, vitamins and every day products such as salt and butter. At first aspirin was prescribed for any and every ailment – remember the Baby Aspirin? Although they have been prescribing aspirin to patients with heart disease as a blood thinner to prevent blood clots; they are now finding some of these same patients are now suffering from gastrointestinal bleeding.

The advice came from researchers who found that even at very low doses, long-term use of aspirin carried a significant risk of internal bleeding. A review involving nearly 66,000 patients, showed that on average 2.5 per cent of people taking aspirin suffered from gastrointestinal bleeding. This compared with a figure of 1.4 per cent for patients not taking aspirin – almost double the risk.

The researchers wrote: ‘Long-term therapy with aspirin is associated with a significant increase in the incidence of gastrointestinal haemorrhage. No evidence exists that reducing the dose or using modified release formulations would reduce the incidence of gastrointestinal haemorrhage.’

Now I ask you – are you willing to risk your life? This is a question that must be asked when ingesting any medications. Have you seen the commercials that promote medications? The side effects are worse than the initial reason you may be taking the medication.

Let’s face it! It’s time to take control of your health. It’s time to listen to your body signals and be fully aware of your body. It’s time to ask questions of the professionals, it’s their obligation to educate and inform you. If you are unhappy with their explanations you have the choice to do the research yourself or seek advise from another medical professional.

You’ve been given one body and one life. Don’t you think you should live it to the fullest?
