How To Get Your First Twitter Followers

Twitter is one of the absolute best social media platforms for driving traffic to your blog PERIOD. However, if you are new to Twitter, you may struggle to ‘get it’. I know I did when I started with Twitter. I would get so frustrated because it moved so quickly. I want to encourage you to stick with it though and learn how to harness it because you won’t look back once you do!

Getting your first 500 followers on Twitter is a great milestone to work towards. How do you get them you may be wondering?

Getting your first Twitter followers…

1. Be Active

The very first step is to join Twitter and start getting used to the layout and the culture there. Make sure you complete your profile bio, include a professional personal photo (not your dog or some other random photo!) and start ‘tweeting’…otherwise known as sharing your thoughts, content, etc. Remember…social media is a conversation, not a sales pitch so tweet accordingly. You want to give people a reason to follow you.

2. Follow Other People First

You definitely want to seek out targeted to your niche followers and follow them. Chances are that a great percentage of them will follow you back. Make sure your profile is relavant to your niche because many will check that out to make sure that you are someone that they want to connect with before following you back.

How do you find people to follow? A great way is to take a look at influencers within your niche. Check out who they follow and who is following them.

3. Engage and Interact

Begin to @reply to those who are tweeting things that resonate with you. This is like networking event only it is all happening online. Say hello, start a conversation with the ultimate goal of building a relationship. People that you reach out to consistently will start to become familiar with you, your website and ultimately may become a potential ideal client.

Reaching 500 Twitter followers will happen before you know it and then your next goal is 1,000!

Spend time on Twitter, focus on connecting consistently and reaching 500 Twitter followers will happen before you know it! Next goal is 1,000!

    Hi Kim.

You have shown the best 3 ways to increase interaction (@) board notifications on twitter. People get happy when they see lots of @ mentions and when their follower count hits to thousands and millions!

However, I have the answer to most of the people’s question, which is “how can you get followers on twitter” and my answer is, you dont always need more number of followers to be happy. First of all, you need to define your purpose to get more followers. Do you want it for increasing your sales? (then increase your sales count, not twitter followers), for show off? (best way to go!) for fame? (good impact.) WHAT??

    Enough said,

    Hope you find your way,

I totally agree that it’s not the number but the quality of the followers. Targeting your followers is essential for sure. Thanks so much for your comments.

      Have a blessed day.
