I’m so pleased with this project..I just had to share.
In one of our latest scavenger hunts; (my kids and I love going to yard sales, thrift shops and flea markets) we found this high chair:
Can you see why I was so excited when I saw it? It has great bones and it is perfect for my little grand-baby…so I couldn’t pass it up.
The first thing I had to do was clean, sand and prime it. For this project I didn’t use the oil based primer, the Kilz Latex Primer worked great. Here she is with primer:
I let her sit for a day until the primer set and mainly because it was so hot and humid outside. That also gave me some time to figure out how to use my ‘new toy’. If you look closely at this photo you will see my ‘new toy’ – a new spray gun. Can you say fun? Not only was using this spray gun fun it was a huge time saver.
The colors we decided on were Glidden’s Pink Carnation and Glidden’s Pink Heather. The pink carnation was used on the body and the pink heather which has a purple hue was used on the tray and accents. I also added some daisies to the tray and chose a vintage looking fabric for the seat cushion.
After several days of drying and letting the paint truly set, I added a protective layer of Minwax Polycrylic on the tray and a lighter coat on the entire chair.
Here is the end result..
We are so happy with her…she turned out very pretty. What do you think?
