Lifting the Curse of the Kaal Sarpa Dosha

Spread the love

The Hora-shastra is filled with different types of auspicious Yogas, or planetary positions, that provide us with amazing and fortunes. Auspicious Yogas, like the Hamsa Yoga, can greatly and positively affect a person’s entire horoscope and is at the center of most Hora-shastra discussions.

But of course, not all Yogas can be auspicious; just like the Moon has a dark side, so do planets. The auspicious placement or positions of planets is called Yoga, while the malefic positioning of these same planets is called Dosha. In Vedic astrology, knowing more about your Dosha, or curse, is just as important as learning about your Yoga, or blessings. This will help you navigate the troubles that come with your Dosha, and can help you either avoid it or use your Yoga to withstand the negativity it might bring.

The Dosha

Much like Yogas, a Dosha will form because of the position of the planets in relation to one another, their aspects, their Houses, and so on and so forth. But Dosha natives can be cursed with this negativity because of other reasons, like a curse on their bloodline or negative karma from a previous life.

While there isn’t much remedy for karmic justice, many people seeking solutions to their Dosha do so because they believe that the misfortune it brings can either be avoided or mitigated. One of the most feared type of Dosha is called the Kala Sarpaa Dosha, or the Kaal Sarpaa Dosha.

This Dosha happens when a Rahu and Ketu planet combine with and are situated at each side of all the other planets. Because Rahu and Ketu are Shadow planets (i.e. planets that exist beyond our reality), they can exert a great amount of influence on the planets they are flanking, even going so far as to completely have these planets under their thrall.

What Can the Kaal Sarpaa Dosha Cause?

There are various types of Kaal Sarpaa Dosha, and each one can create different problems for different people, with varying levels of severity. Here are some problems a person under the influence of the Kaal Sarpaa Dosha can face:

  • Regular minor setbacks and delays
  • Important projects or works suddenly stalling for seemingly no reason
  • Constant anxiety and mental anguish
  • A lack of confidence in one’s abilities
  • Low self-esteem
  • Poor health which can lead to a shorter life span.
  • Loss of wealth due to negative luck in business, which in turn, can lead to poverty.
  • Constant arguments with family members
  • A lack of support from friends
  • Being scammed by business partners or clients

A person under the Kaal Sarpaa Dosha needs to resolve its issues right away, particularly if Rahu and Ketu have their Antradasha or Mahadaha activated, as these can bring even more misfortune to a person.

Remedies to the Kaal Sarpa Dosha

One thing to remember: the Shadow planet Rahu is ruled by both Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Offering up prayers and devotions to them goes a very long way into easing the curse of Kaal Sarpaa Dosha.

Beyond these, there are other measures one can do or use to further mitigate, or even negate, the problems caused by Kaal Sarpaa Dosha, such as:

Chanting Om Nama Shivaya

With Lord Shiva as one of the ruling Lords of Rahu, chanting Om Nama Shivaya 108 times in a single day will please Shiva and he may be moved to remove the Dosha itself. The chant should be done every day, without rest, until the Dosha is lifted.

Shiva Puja

If chanting Om Nama Shivaya 108 times a day takes up too much time or is physically impossible, then any form of Shiva Puja can still please Lord Shiva, and he might decide to reduce the effects of the Dosha on your person.

Visit Certain Temples

To get Lord Shiva to hear you more clearly, visit, at least once in your lifetime, some temples that are dedicated to his worship. These include Srikalahasti temple in Andhra Pradesh, Trambakeshwar in Nashik (Maharashtra), or Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain (M.P.). While there, chant the Mahamritunjaya Mantra, as it can greatly reduce the effects of the Dosha, if not negate it completely.

Celebrate Raksha Panchami

Raksha Panchami is a festival dedicated to Batuk Bhairav, one of Lord Shiva’s many incarnations. It is celebrated on Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Panchami, and worshipping Shiva on this day can appease him and may move him to ease the Dosha on you.

Donate to Charity

Charitable acts, done both once a month and during your nakshatra, are pleasing to Lord Shiva and can be instrumental in removing the curse of Kaal Sarpaa Dosha completely.

Of course, one should first find out what kind of Kaal Sarpaa Dosha they have in order to proceed with a remedy. Here are some common types of Kaal Sarpaa Dosha:

Types of Kaal Sarpaa Dosha

Anant Kaal Sarpaa Dosha

This type of Kaal Sarpaa Dosha is formed when Rahu is in the first house and Ketu in the seventh house, with all the planets placed on Rahu’s side going toward Ketu. This Kaal Sarpaa Dosha often brings misfortune to married couples.

Kulik Kaal Sarpaa Dosha

This occurs when Rahu is in the second house and Ketu is in the 8th. Natives born under this Kaal Sarpaa Dosha can expect bad health throughout their life, coupled with numerous accidents and a shorter life span. The Kulik Kaal Sarpaa Dosha native can also expect to lose honor and prosperity later in his life.

Vasuki Kaal Sarpaa Dosha

Occurs when Rahu is in the third house and Ketu is in the 9th. Natives of this Dosha must be on the lookout for illnesses relating to blood pressure and deception by close family and friends.

Padam Kaal Sarpaa Dosha

This occurs when Rahu is in the 5th house and Ketu is in the 11th. One of the most feared Doshas, the Padam Kaal Sarpaa Dosha can cause difficulties in conceiving, not to mention causing death in young children. Worse, this Dosha can be a magnet for evil spirits, so natives must do their best to remove this Dosha from them with fervent worship to Lord Shiva.
