If your body unequally distributes fat in one particular area that won’t budge even with diet and exercise, you might want to look into non-invasive fat removal. Without requiring invasive surgery, a dermatologist may be able to permanently remove pockets of unwanted fat from your body. This can be done in just about any area, such as your thighs, upper arms, back, and stomach. Here’s what you can expect when you get a procedure done and what types of methods you can choose from.

What happens during a non-invasive fat removal procedure?

During a non-invasive fat removal procedure, a dermatologist will use either injections or a handheld device to destroy particular fat cells in your body. The device is placed on your skin and works by sending heat, cold, or sound waves directly into fat cells without injuring your skin, nerves, or other parts of your body. Meanwhile, injections contain an acid (usually bile acid) that dissolves fat cells.

What types of procedures are there?

Cryolipolysis, otherwise known as fat freezing, uses a device that emits extremely cold temperatures to freeze fat, effectively destroying the fat. It takes about two treatment sessions for it to fully take effect. This is one of the more popular treatment types. There are plenty of reliable fat freeze services in Singapore, and you’ll be able to notice visible results in just a few short sessions.

Radiofrequency is the opposite of cryolipolysis. Rather than freezing your fat, radiofrequency destroys fat through a device that releases heat instead. Dermatologists recommend between four and 10 treatments for maximum effectiveness.

Injections use certain acids to dissolve excess fat. Acids may come in the form of bile acid or deoxycholic acid. This treatment is most commonly used for dissolving excess chin fat. You’ll need about two treatment sessions, spaced six to eight weeks apart, to notice visible results.

Ultrasound therapy utilizes a device that releases sound waves which causes fat to dissolve over a period of time. You’ll need around one to three treatments, depending on what your doctor recommends and what device is used for the procedure.

Do the procedures hurt?

This depends on what procedure is being done and how high your pain tolerance is. In general, these procedures aren’t painful, but you might expect to feel slight discomfort. Since treatment time could take between 30 minutes to an hour and requires tugging, pinching, and pulling at the skin, it’s possible that you may experience some slight soreness or bruising afterwards.

How long before results begin to appear?

Noticeable results depend on how many treatments you get, and the results don’t happen overnight. Visible changes are gradual and may only begin to happen one to four months in, with full results appearing six months in. Although there have been cases of changes appearing as early as one month. These instances are few and far between though, so it’s a matter of patience.

How long is the recovery time for these procedures?

These procedures are all outpatient procedures, and you will be able to return to your daily activities immediately after your treatment. You may notice some slight bruising or swelling on the area and perhaps some minor discomfort, but this is usually not enough to disrupt your normal everyday activities.

Look and feel great in your body by eliminating stubborn fat through effective non-invasive fat removal procedures.
